Chicago Brain Injury Attorneys: What YOU Need To Know If You Suspect a Brain Injury

Chicago Brain Injury Attorneys Lets You Know The Important Thing You Should Know About Brain Injuries.

Chicago brain injury attorneys are amongst the best experts to expose the confusing, frustrating and often tragic nature of brain injuries and the effect that a brain injury can have on proving an injury case.

If you suspect that you or a loved one has sustained a brain injury, there are some steps you must take for your health first and foremost, but also to protect your right to recover for the consequences of this injury.

First, you have to understand that a brain injury can be obvious, like a subdural hematoma, but often, the injury is subtle.

And is not diagnosed by doctors who cannot diagnose the subtle personality change, mood change, and behavior changes that accompany this kind of injury. Only a family member or loved one can do that. And a Chicago brain injury lawyer can know what to do with cases like like that.

That is why it is key to get your loved one to a doctor or neurologist and explain the changed which have happened after the trauma. They need your input to make a diagnosis and see what kind of treatment is available. Documenting the injury is very important.

Because brain injuries can be so subtle in their effect, it can be hard for to tell if you are behaving a bit differently or whether your family member is seriously struggling with things that used to be simple, or if they have had a real change in personality or mood.  Watch them carefully.

Another thing to keep in mind:  if you are seeing the 'wrong' kind of doctor, they might 'pooh-pooh' your claims of there being serious fallout from the trauma.

They may deny that anything is going on and encourage you to ignore it.  Chicago brain injury attorneys who knows what they are doing always give their clients good advice:  see a doctor who takes your complaints seriously.

But cases like these have to be documented, and it isn't enough just to go get a second opinion.  If your doctor is not addressing the needs of the patient or seems skeptical or outright hostile, then it is time to change doctors.  You deserve a good doctor, plain and simple.

Since brain injuries can have permanent and severe effects on a person's life, it is also a really good idea to talk to a lawyer.

But not just anyone; talk to someone who does a lot of personal injury work for injured people -- not the local real estate lawyer, and not some guy who usually works for insurance companies.

If you talk to a lawyer, make sure you get one who understands the intricacies and pitfalls of handling a brain injury case. You need a Chicago brain injury lawyer who will take the time with you and your family to document the changes and take the steps necessary to prove them in Court.

I hope this information helps you and your family in this trying time.

Chicago brain injury lawyer Scott DeSalvo here. In this video, I'm gonna reveal to you the important differences about brain injury cases that everyone has to know if they suspect a brain injury. So stay tuned.

Brain injuries are not like your typical injury case. In some injury cases, you're dealing with a broken bone, but a broken bone is very obvious on an x-ray, and even when it heals, you can see it's there. In fact, diagnosing a broken bone is hard to miss. Brain injury is almost the complete opposite of a broken bone.

Now, a brain injury can be very obvious, like a subdural hematoma, which is bleeding in the brain that doctors can see on a CT scan. But thousands of injuries occur every year and they are diagnosed late or the brain injury is never diagnosed at all.  According to the CDC, although everyoe is at risk of a Tramatic Brain Injury (TBI, children and older adults are at a higher risk.

See, the brain is actually a very delicate organ and violent movement of the head can cause the brain to move back and forth inside the skull, and to strike the inside of the skull. This is called a concussion. Even if you don't have a cracked skull or bleeding in the brain, you can have a concussion. These sorts of traumatic brain injuries can kill you, they can change your behavior, change your personality, and have a huge effect on your family.

Brain injuries can be temporary or permanent, but they can destroy your life. Traumatic brain injuries can cause depression and anxiety, and all sorts of social and emotional disorders. But there's no simple test that doctors can do, similar to an x-ray for a broken bone, for a more subtle brain injury because it's just not that easy to diagnose. Unfortunately, doctors sometimes don't make the diagnosis. Oftentimes it's up to the injured person and his family to come forward and note the strange behavior, or the atypical behavior.

Some of the symptoms of a traumatic brain injury are fatigue, depression, anxiety, confusion, change in personality, change in mood, change in food or hobby preference, and change in behavior.

If you suspect a loved one has a brain injury, you should go to a doctor immediately. There may be treatment that will help the injury, and documenting the injury and the problems that the person is having is the only way that we'll ever be able to make a claim for it in a claim or lawsuit. Proving the brain injury claim requires the help of a lawyer who will take the time to get to know you and your family, and really pull apart the medical records.

Chicago brain injury attorneys handling your case has to be familiar with these sorts of cases as well. In a serious and complex injury like this, speaking with an experienced attorney is the best thing you can do to protect yourself and your family.
