Statute of Limitations: The ONE THING You MUST Know About Your Injury Case.
Statute of Limitations? Chicago Accident Attorney Begs You to Learn Your Case Deadline Called the "Statute of Limitations"!
Chicago accident attorney Scott DeSalvo shares what happened at the office today that ruined his day . And he tell you the ONE THING that he begs and pleads all injured people to do, if they do nothing else.
Hi guys, Chicago accident attorney Scott DeSalvo here. In this video I am going to beg and plead for you and your family to do this one thing if a loved one has been injured in an accident.
I’m a little bit depressed today – well, not depressed, a little sad for a person who called me.
You might be able to tell I’m a little bit lower energy than normal. I’m actually shooting this video at home after work, and I wanted to shoot this video because something happened today that I want to tell you about.
I got a phone call from a lady whose husband died. Really nice lady. Really bothered me that she lost her husband, and they’ve got a kid at home, so the child lost his father. She was taking advice from family and friends about not contacting a lawyer.
I’ve talked about it in my other videos, there are deadlines for filing lawsuits. These are called Statutes of Limitation.
The problem is, the deadline for your lawsuit depends on the kind of case, who you’re suing, a bunch of circumstances like that.
Her deadline got blown. She didn’t consult with an attorney. She followed family advice and advice from her friends to not get an attorney involved. It ruined my day. I can’t help this lady, and so it really bothers me.
"I guess my point is, you’re not going to be able to figure out these deadlines yourself and you’re not going to be able to deal with the insurance companies and the lawyers they hire all by yourself."
Injury lawyers like me offer a free consultation. Honestly, it’s my preference that you contact me. Obviously, it’s how I make a living.
But if you don’t like me or there’s somebody else you want to talk to, if you’ve been in involved in an accident, please speak with an attorney. Free consultation means that the phone call is free, and it means that the advice is free. A decent lawyer is going to be tell you whether you have a case or not. Most importantly, they’re going to tell you the steps you have to take to protect your rights.
If this lady I spoke with had spoken with even not the best lawyer in the world, she would have known to do some things to protect her rights. I really feel for her and I feel for her family. I wish there was something I can do for her, but these are hard deadlines. I’m still going to do some more research and see if I can help her.
As a lawyer, I feel like we always repeat these things. Even in these videos I’ve been doing on YouTube, I feel like, I keep repeating, “There’s deadlines. There are deadlines. Statute of Limitations. Free consultation, free consultation.” But I’m telling you, it’s breaking my heart. There’s thousands of lawyers who do what I do in Illinois just in the Chicagoland area.
Please, if you or a loved one has been hurt, get a consultation either from my office or from somebody else.
Shouldn't YOU Have The Best Liked Lawyer, Too?
"Hiring Scott was one of the best moves I have made in my life....5 star first class act who really knows his stuff."
Call Now.
The last thing I’ll say is, if it’s a big, complicated case, don’t go to your family, a bankruptcy lawyer, your divorce lawyer. Make sure you get a referral to an attorney who specializes in injury law.
