Broken Bones Injury Lawyer

Got A Broken Bone in an Accident?

I talk to lots of injured people in my business, as you can imagine, and very few people with a broken bone ever feel the same.

There are a couple of things which are key in getting a good result for an injured person in an injury case involving broken bones.  I’m going to tell you about them right now.

Documenting Surrounding Injuries

In young and healthy people, it is quite difficult to break a bone. It requires a lot of force. But it is easy to generate that force in a car crash or motorcycle accident, or even a forceful fall to the ground.

As we age, we lose bone density. That means our bones are thinner and easier to break. So when we are dealing with older folks or people with chronic health conditions, their bones are easier to break and are harder to heal.

But I can tell you that I have never had a broken bone case in my office that did not also involve injury to the surrounding parts of the body. For example, I’ve handled several ankle fracture cases where, after the fracture heals, my client still has pain in the foot or pain in the ankle joint even though x-rays show that the bones are completely healed.

The other part of this is that when doctors are dealing with the fracture, it is easy for them to miss less immediate injuries. I have handled dozens of cases where my client had a broken leg and also a back injury. The treating doctor who was handling the broken leg did not document the lower back complaints of pain and injury and the medical records until after the broken leg was healed. This created a problem with the insurance company because they did not think my client actually hurt his lower back in the car crash.

So if you’ve got a broken bone, and other parts of your body are hurting, make sure that you tell your doctor and that he addresses it in the medical records. All of your complaints have to be documented, and after your bone heals, if you are still having pain, you have to see the doctor and get it addressed.

Get a Second Opinion for Surgery

If a doctor has told you that you need surgery, then my advice is to get a second opinion from a different surgeon.

It is not uncommon to have a surgeon want to put permanent metal into your body such as a Rod inside a broken leg or arm bone.

Other doctors will do the same repair using a plate and screws which is less invasive and can be removed later.

For your health, if the Dr. is recommending surgery, it is a good idea to get a second opinion so that you can make sure the surgery is really necessary and that you are getting a surgery that you feel comfortable with.

Consider Speaking with a Lawyer

The consequences of having broken bones can include arthritis and bones which are easier to break again. Broken bones can cause lots of pain and can permanently affect you.

These are not the sorts of injuries that are bump and bruise, no big deal injuries.

You owe it to yourself to get good advice and make sure you have all your bases covered if somebody has injured you to the point of breaking your bones.

Injury lawyers offer a free case evaluation with no obligation.

It makes sense to speak with a lawyer who will take the time to answer all of your questions and set your mind at ease. It costs you nothing out of your pocket, and may result in a much better outcome for you.

I hope this information has been helpful for you. If you still have any questions, please consider giving me a call for a free, no obligation consultation.

Thanks for reading, and good luck.
