Injury Lawyer – What You Should Know About Your Injury
There are a few things you need to know about all injury cases. All injury cases have these few things in common.
Knowing these things sets you apart and empowers you to make the right decisions for yourself or your family and your case.
Not knowing these things means you’re operating in the dark.
Insurance is against you
The first thing I want to explain to you is that in 99% of injury cases, you are dealing with an insurance company whether you know it or not.
An insurance company is paying the defense lawyer to beat your case.
An insurance company is making the decisions about whether to make an offer or whether to go to trial.
Insurance companies have essentially an unlimited budget, and they have lawyers advising them from day one.
So for example, if you were in a car accident, you are not up against the other driver in court. You are up against an insurance company with hundreds of lawyers and years of legal experience against you.
Get your questions answered with a free case evaluation
Every injury lawyer worth his or her salt offers a free case evaluation.
That means, whether you hire the lawyer or not, you can ask as many questions about your cases you want and get answers for free.
Knowing that in almost every injury case, you are up against an insurance company and lawyers with experience, why wouldn’t you want to talk to a lawyer who specializes in injury law and who is on your side, and who will answer all of your questions for free?
Get a free case evaluation as early as possible after your injury.
Don’t delay medical care
Insurance companies love it when you delay getting medical care. Whether you have a workers comp case, a car accident case, or medical malpractice, or whatever kind of injury case you have, delaying getting medical treatment is the worst thing you can do.
Insurance companies and their defense lawyers are experts at destroying injured people’s cases by arguing that if they were hurt, they would’ve gone to the doctor sooner. Juries believe this argument, and lots of people have walked out of the courtroom with nothing because they waited to long to go to the doctor.
If you are hurt or suspected injury, get to the doctor. Even if you just go to the emergency room to have your injury documented by a medical professional, that could save your case.
Don’t give a recorded statement
Lots of insurance companies take recorded statements from injured people early on in the claims process before the injured person can gather their thoughts or talk to a lawyer of their own.
These insurance claims adjusters follow outlines created for them by lawyers. These outlines ask leading questions to get you to say things you don’t mean. They tried to get you to commit to not being injured and not seeking medical care. They tried to get you to say things to suggest that the injuries were from some other cause or that the car crash was your fault.
I always tell people whether they hire me or not, do not give an insurance company recorded statement. It can only hurt you. And if you want to give a recorded statement, get a free case evaluation from an injury lawyer first.
The above advice is solid gold no matter what kind of injury case you have.
I offer free case evaluation, so if you have questions please call.
I also offer a free injury DVD video to victims of injury for free. It is a 25 min. DVD video which explains the claims process and answers the most common questions I get from injured people.
